STRUCTURES OF FOREST

Protection, flexibility and stability in form and color

Forests offer protection from solar radiation, wind and rain, they are shaped by and shape themselves our landscapes. And yet they are as varied as different in detail. How does the structure, color and shape of a fir forest differ from a mixed forest? How easily does air movement make the canopy of poplar or linden trees glitter? Or how does the stability, growth and structure of a fir tree vary from that of a linden tree? How can light and sun rays illuminate the forest floor made of earth, sand, stones, pine needles and leaves? It is the play with mixing paint with a spatula directly on the picture, when applying paint on dried surface structures or mixing the paint with paint that has not yet dried, what allows these structures to be anticipated and made visible.
